It’s time to say hello to 2022. To look forward, to build upon 2021 and to set course for the coming year.

I’m very pleased with how 2021 went for us. We did excellent work, we helped so many people and we continued our evolution into the best that we can be. I feel proud and accomplished for the team we have, the diligence we put into each case and the care and attention we give to each patient.

Reflecting upon this year’s ISHRS World Congress

I guess I just repeat myself a lot when talking about these meetings, but I have to say it every time: the ISHRS World Congress is always amazing for me! I just love it. You get to see your friends, hang out and talk about hair the whole time (but not just hair, of course). There are a lot of discussions, ideas and “pearls” floating around the whole time. It’s just a privilege and I’m so happy that I get to be part of it all!

Men’s grooming blog ApetoGentleman have released their Top 25 Hair Transplant Surgeons list for 2021, and I’m very pleased and honored to announce that Spencer Stevenson, the writer of the list (more commonly known as Spex Hair) has considered me and our work to be amongst what he considers to be the Top 25 in the World.

Repair work has always been a frequent part of my practice. However, I’d say that in the last half-decade, it has become increasingly more frequent. Unfortunately, the amount of people getting procedures done by inexperienced, unethical, or just plain bad and scammy “professionals” is still on the rise. I believe that this is a lot due to misinformation. Something that we all (myself included) should play a part in combating. I definitely intend on making more and more strides in the direction of bringing good, honest and trustworthy information to the public, so expect to see some new segments and resources from us on that.

So today I registered for the ISHRS 2020 Virtual World Congress. That made me realize one thing: I didn’t write my blog of the 2019 one! So this will be a quick post about that.

The 2019 ISHRS World Congress was last November in Bangkok, Thailand. I’d never been there, so I was excited to check out the city. I was also tempted to hop on the plane to the islands and get some much deserved sun and relaxation at the beach, but alas, that was not possible as I was needed back in Porto and had to focus on my work.

The hairline. Easily one of my favourite aspects of hair transplant surgery. It can easily define the quality of a hair transplant (although a great hair transplant is far from being just an excellent hairline) and it changes everything from the moment you decide on where to place it.

Your hair frames your face in such a profound way that a person can dramatically change his or her appearance just by getting a haircut. We’ve all had that “Wow! You got a haircut! I almost didn’t recognize you!” moment from someone we know, or even caused one ourselves with our bold new, avantgarde haircut.

The hairline is in a way, a surgeon’s signature and one of the things that distinguishes a good surgeon from a great one. It is also one of the most important parts of the surgery. Like I’ve mentioned, hairline placement can make or break a hair transplant and has the most potential to dramatically change the patient’s look…for better or worse.

Hair transplants have progressed a lot over the years. We have gone from being very limited in what we were able to do for patients, doing sometimes painful surgery which would leave ugly scars and unnatural results to virtually undetectable, very natural looking results with short recovery times.
